Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
Kacie Crowson, MS-CCC/SLP is an ASHA certified, Texas Licensed Speech Language Pathologist living and practicing in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Kacie has over 24 years experience in the field of Speech Language Pathology. She started her career as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant in a private clinic then on to work in a public school. After receiving a master's degree, she continued her endeavors within the public school setting while working in the medical setting whenever possible. She has worked in outpatient and inpatient settings at the local hospital and has served as the SLP for many local home health agencies. Kacie has also served as the lead supervising SLP for a shared service arrangement. Additionally, she has experience working full time in an outpatient clinic locally. All in all, Kacie's experience as an SLP is far reaching over the life span and with a wide variety of abilities. Her current specializations include pediatric articulation and language therapy and adult voice therapy for Parkinson's Disease.
Speech therapy may be needed when a person has difficulty producing speech sounds correctly, difficulty producing fluent speech without the presence of dysfluencies (stuttering), or problems with voice or resonance.
Language therapy may be needed when a person has trouble understanding others, sharing thoughts, communicating ideas, and expressing feelings appropriately.
Swallowing therapy may be needed when a child or adult has been diagnosed with dysphagia (swallowing disorder). They may need therapy to learn compensatory strategies or other treatment options to improve the safety of oral intake by reducing the risk of aspiration and thereby maintaining or improving quality of life.
Social communication therapy may be needed when a person has difficulty with the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Social communication disorders may include difficulty communicating for social purposes, adjusting ones own communication to suit the listener, and following conversational rules.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) therapy may be needed for children and adults with severe speech or language problems who need to find other ways to communicate besides talking. There are many types of AAC that can be utilized, and an SLP can help determine the most appropriate and effective one.
One of the many areas of cognition that SLPs assist with is memory. In speech therapy, a plan can be developed to aid in the use of memory strategies and the development of routines to aid in daily life.
AmpCare® ESP™ (Effective Swallow Protocol) is an innovative, evidence-based therapy program designed to improve muscle strength, coordination, and function for individuals experiencing swallowing and neuromuscular challenges. Using a combination of targeted therapeutic exercises and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), AmpCare® helps retrain the muscles involved in swallowing to work more effectively and efficiently.
This structured program focuses on restoring safe and functional swallowing by strengthening weakened muscles and promoting better movement patterns. AmpCare® is commonly used with individuals who have difficulty swallowing due to neurological conditions, aging, or other medical factors.
At Bubble Speech Therapy, AmpCare® ESP™ is provided by a trained clinician and tailored to each patient’s specific needs. The goal is to improve swallowing safety, reduce the risk of complications, and help individuals return to a more comfortable and confident eating experience.
LSVT LOUD® is an evidence-based speech therapy program designed to improve vocal loudness, clarity, and overall communication in individuals with neurological conditions, most commonly Parkinson’s disease. This intensive, research-backed treatment focuses on increasing vocal volume (“loudness”) to help individuals speak more clearly and be better understood in everyday conversations.
Through structured, high-effort vocal exercises, LSVT LOUD® helps retrain the brain and voice by targeting reduced vocal intensity, monotone speech, and imprecise articulation which are common challenges associated with neurological diagnoses. The program emphasizes consistent practice and repetition to create lasting improvements in speech and communication.
LSVT LOUD® is typically delivered in a standardized format of four sessions per week for four weeks, with daily home practice to reinforce progress. At Bubble Speech Therapy, treatment is provided by a certified clinician and customized to meet each individual’s communication needs and goals.
The goal of LSVT LOUD® is simple but powerful: to help individuals communicate more effectively, be heard with confidence, and maintain stronger connections with family, friends, and their community.
The SPEAK OUT!® Therapy Program is an evidence-based speech treatment designed to improve communication in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. This program focuses on helping patients “speak with intent,” a technique that strengthens the connection between the brain and the voice to improve vocal clarity, volume, and overall speech intelligibility.
Through structured, clinician-guided exercises, SSPEAK OUT!® targets the underlying motor and cognitive changes associated with Parkinson’s that can impact speech, such as reduced loudness, mumbling, and monotone voice. By emphasizing intentional speech, patients learn to produce stronger, clearer voice output that carries over into everyday conversations.
The program is typically delivered over a series of individual therapy sessions and is often followed by participation in a maintenance group (LOUD Crowd®) to support long-term success. At Bubble Speech Therapy, SPEAK OUT!® is provided by a trained clinician and tailored to meet each individual’s communication needs and goals.
The goal of SPEAK OUT!® is to help individuals regain confidence in their communication, improve vocal strength and clarity, and stay actively connected with the world around them.
PECS® (Picture Exchange Communication System®) is an evidence-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) approach designed to help individuals with limited or no verbal speech communicate effectively. Using simple pictures, individuals learn to initiate communication by exchanging a picture for a desired item, action, or response.
PECS® is taught in a structured progression of phases that build from basic requesting to more advanced communication skills, including sentence formation, answering questions, and commenting. This approach emphasizes functional, real-life communication and encourages individuals to independently initiate interactions with others.
PECS® is commonly used with children and individuals with communication challenges, including those with Autism spectrum disorder and other developmental delays. It supports the development of intentional communication and can also help facilitate the growth of verbal language in some individuals.
At Bubble Speech Therapy, PECS® is implemented by a trained clinician and tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. The focus is on building meaningful, independent communication skills that can be used across home, school, and community environments.
